Radiofrequency neurotomy is a therapeutic procedure designed to decrease or even eliminate pain symptoms arising from degenerative facet joints within the spine.

The procedure involves using radiofrequency-generated heat to deactivate the nerves that innervate the facet joints.

This procedure is most commonly used to treat chronic pain and conditions such as facet syndrome of the spine (spondylosis) and sacroiliitis, but is also used to treat neck, back, knee, pelvic, and peripheral nerve pain.
